I Want to Know You

I had just purchased a wonderful new Taylor acoustic guitar and I wrote this song during the first week or so that I had the guitar. I based the lyric on the Seven Deadly Sins.

Lyrics

It’s true I want to know you
You want to know me
Then how can it be?
That something stands in our way
I’m starting to see
That something is me

‘Cause my pride is a hindrance for you
And my greed is a hindrance for you
But I’m learning to let you come through
I want to know you

Your Spirit speaks to my heart
It tells me I’m wrong
It tells me I’m right
But when I choose my own way
Ignore what you say
Step out of your light

Then my lies are a hindrance for you
And my lust is a hindrance for you
But I’m learning to let you come through
I want to know you

INSTRUMENTAL

Cause excess is a hindrance for you
And sloth is a hindrance for you
But I’m learning to let you come through
I want to know you

Lord you give perfect peace
To people who reach
Their hearts out to you
You came and showed us the way
You taught us to pray
You drew us to you

Still my angers a hindrance for you
Still my fear is a hindrance for you
But I’m learning to let you come through
I want to know you
I want to know you
Lord I want to know you
